General Guidelines

  • Working in Canada: You must be employed in Canada at the time of your application.

  • Occupation: You can work in any occupation during the application process. Essential workers need 1,560 work hours in an eligible occupation within the past three years, and graduate stream applicants require a Canadian credential.

  • Completed Application: Ensure you submit a fully completed application with all required documents, including language tests, and pay the fees.

  • Multiple Streams: You can apply to multiple streams if desired, but separate fees apply for each application.

  • Intake Process: Applications are processed on a first-come, first-served basis.

  • Quebec Residents: Residents of Quebec may still be eligible if they demonstrate intent to move to another province or have a job offer from another province.

  • Self-employed Experience: Self-employed experience does not count for these streams.

  • Document Signatures: Wet signatures are not required on documents except for representative forms; an attestation at the end of the online application serves as a signature.

  • Fee Payment: Fees can be paid online in advance, and the receipt uploaded with your application, or paid through the online portal. Overpayments result in automatic refunds from IRCC.

Eligibility

  • Details on eligibility can be found .

Application Process

  • Detailed instructions on the application process can be found .

  1. Use Online Portal: Utilize the online portal for application submission. The portal includes a 'How to Apply Tool' and a wizard to determine eligibility.

  2. Agree to Terms: Agree to the terms and conditions.

  3. Create Account: Create an account and verify it using the email verification code.

  4. Document Checklist: Review the document checklist, including the IMM 0008 form, which must be submitted with 2D barcodes.

  5. Representative Form: If using a representative, ensure the representative form has a wet signature.

  6. Submit Documents: Submit required documents, including proof of eligible work or study experience in Canada.

  7. Acknowledgement and Consent: Review and acknowledge the acknowledgement and consent form, as well as the privacy statement.

  8. Fee Payment: Pay the required fees.

  9. Submission: Click the 'Submit' button to submit your application. A confirmation page will indicate successful submission.

Documents Required

  • A list of required documents will be generated based on the stream you are applying for. Refer to the application portal for the specific documents needed, which may include:

  • 'Generic Application Form for Canada' (IMM 0008)

  • Police certificates

  • Medical exams

  • Proof of funds

  • Birth certificate (if declaring dependent children)

  • Use of a representative form (if hiring a representative)

  • Marital status documents (common-law, married, divorced, widowed)

  • Adoption certificate (if applicable)

If police certificates are unavailable, proof of reasonable effort to obtain them is required.
